December 6 (SeeNews) - M-Network, a unit of Bulgarian wireless carrier Mobiltel, said on Tuesday it plans to ensure its fixed-line high-speed Internet and TV services cover 850,000 households by the end of 2011.
The company's coverage extended to 805,000 households at the end of November.
The company said in a statement the number of households passed by its network by October was up by 56% compared to a year earlier with digital TV subscribers jumping 274% and high-speed Internet subscribers rising 21%.
M-Network was set up to manage Spectrum Net and Megalan Network, the local cable operators acquired by Mobiltel last year.
The company is the only Internet provider in Bulgaria developing a fibre-optic network based on Gigabit Passive Optic Network, a technology that offers surfing speeds of up to to 1.0 gigabit per second.
M-Network's high-speed Internet services are currently available in Sofia, Varna, Devnya, Burgas, Plovdiv and in the wider Veliko Tarnovo area.
