November 26 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's Leader 96 said on Thursday that it will open a new factory for electric bikes in the region of Plovdiv, creating at least 25 jobs.
The investments in the project to date exceed 4 million levs ($2.4 million/2.0 million euro), the bike manufacturer told SeeNews in an e-mailed statement, adding that it plans to continue to invest in the plant.
The plant, which will be located in Maritsa municipality, will spread on some 7,000 sq m, the company also said.
In a statement published earlier on Thursday, Bulgaria's government said that it will provide some 500,000 levs to Maritsa municipality to build road infrastructure to the factory.
Plovdiv-based Leader 96, founded in 1996, is specialised in the production and distribution of middle and high-end regular bikes and electric bikes and currently employs around 550 people.
Leader 96 opened its second factory in 2017, increasing its production capacity to 400,000 bicycles per year, according to information published on the company's website.
