March 14 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian dairy producer LB Bulgaricum is considering investing in an own cow farm and partnering with Israeli agricultural management software company Akol on the project, the economy ministry said on Tuesday.
Akol owns specialised software that manages cow farms, providing real-time information on each animal and analysing how to maximize production, the economy ministry said in a statement after a meeting between economy minister Nikola Stoyanov and representatives of the Israeli company. The company's collaboration with milk producers and the sate institutions ensures full transparency in the sector and better traceability of the entire process, it added.
In January, Japanese company Meiji Holdings Co said it had entered into talks to participate in the establishment of a Japanese-Bulgarian centre for the research and development of new dairy products, which according to an earlier statement by the Bulgarian economy ministry, would be a joint project with LB Bulgaricum.
LB Bulgaricum previously had said it plans to invest at least 5 million levs ($2.74 million/2.56 million euro) in 2023 to expand its market presence.
