June 8 (SeeNews) - The gross domestic product (GDP) per person employed in Bulgaria edged up by an annual 0.3% to 11,660 levs ($6,389/5,962 euro) in the first quarter of 2023, the statistical office said on Thursday.
Gross value added (GVA) per person employed also rose in real terms in the January-March period, by 0.8% on the year, whereas GVA per hour worked fell by 1.9%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
GVA per person employed in the industrial sector amounted to 13,659.2 levs in the review period. In the service sector, an average of 9,307.4 levs GVA was generated by each person employed. Labour productivity was the lowest in the agricultural sector, at 1,898.1 levs per employee.
Some 3.43 million people were employed in Bulgaria's economy in the first quarter, with the total number of hours worked reaching 1.44 billion.
