May 3 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's Kozloduy nuclear power plant (NPP) said that its 1,000-MW Unit 5 will remain shut down for planned annual maintenance until the start of June.
Unit 5 was switched off for scheduled servicing on Sunday.
During the planned outage, Unit 5 will undergo preventative technical servicing and repair, functional and operational testing, and check-ups. In addition, the reactor will be reloaded with fresh nuclear fuel.
Kozloduy's other 1,000 MW unit, Unit 6, will continue to operate according to schedule, the plant operator said. Unit 6 was put back into service on April 22 after being briefly switched off several days earlier for a planned repair of the third steam generator.
