June 22 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's sole nuclear power plant (NPP) Kozloduy shut down its 1000 MW Unit 5 after a faulty generator triggered the circuit safety system of the conventional, non-nuclear part of the unit at 0605 local time, the power plant operator said on Wednesday.
The stoppage was due to a generator malfunction and there is no deviation from normal radiation levels at the plant at present, NPP Kozloduy said in a statement.
Unit 5 will be reconnected to the grid once the issue has been fixed.
NPP Kozloduy's other 1,000-MW Unit 6 is currently operating at full capacity.
