May 15 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s registered unemployment rate increased by 2.2 percentage points month-on-month to 8.9% in April, the government's employment agency said on Friday.
On an annual comparison basis, the registered unemployment rate rose by 3.5 percentage points, the employment agency said in a statement.
At the end of April, the number of registered unemployed people was 292,810, or 72,738 more than a month earlier.
The number of newly-registered people with labour offices reached 87,063 at the end of April, as 67.5% of them lost their job as a result of the coronavirus crisis, the statement read.
Of all people who registered as unemployed in April, 37.1% were employed in the hospitality sector, followed by trade and manufacturing with 18.9% and 15%, respectively.
A total of 12,953 unemployed people found a job with the support of labour offices in April.
Registered job vacancies in April were 10,228, most of them in the manufacturing sector - 31.3% of the total.
