SOFIA (Bulgaria), April 19 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria's current account showed a surplus of 62.7 million euro ($77.6 million) in the first two months of 2018, compared to a surplus of 201.9 million euro a year earlier, the central bank said on Thursday.
The current account surplus was equivalent to 0.1% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) in January-February, compared to a surplus of 0.4% of GDP in the prior-year period, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement.
Bulgaria's trade balance showed a deficit of 587 million euro, or 1.1% of GDP, through February, as compared to a trade deficit of 249.1 million euro, or 0.5% of GDP, in the first two months of last year.
Exports grew 14.5% year-on-year in January-February period, while imports expanded 17.9%.
