January 30 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's general industrial producer price index (PPI) increased by 23.2% year-on-year in December after rising 21.2% in November, the statistical office said on Monday.
On a monthly comparison basis, the PPI rose by 3.4% in December, chiefly due to a 14.3% increase in prices in the sector of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a monthly report.
Producer prices on the domestic market grew by an annual 28.5% in the month under review after going up by 25.3% in November. The increase in December was mostly due to a 37.6% surge in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply prices. Producer prices on the non-domestic market climbed by an annual 13.8% in December.
In annual terms, the most compelling price increases in Bulgaria's manufacturing industry were registered in other non-metallic mineral products - by 28.2% and in the manufacture of food products - by 26.3%. Domestic producer prices in the manufacture of wood, wooden and cork products except furniture rose by 35.5% on the year.
