November 15 (SeeNews) - The average household expenditure per capita in Bulgaria rose 4.3% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2019, outpaced by the average income per household member, which increased by 11.3%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Friday.
A household member spent 1,583 levs ($892/809 euro) on average during the third quarter, while their income amounted to 1,716 levs during the same period, NSI said in a statement.
Wages and salaries formed 56.5% of the total household income, followed by pensions and self-employment income with 27.2% and 6.7%, respectively.
Expenses for food made up 30.1% of the total household expenditure, while expenditure on housing cost a further 16.1%.
Taxes and social insurance contributions constituted 13.1% of the total expenditure, followed by transport and communications services with 11.2%.
