January 28 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian e-money company iCard said on Tuesday that it starts offering Apple Pay services to its clients.
"We believe that this project will strengthen our strong position on leading markets such as England, Italy, France and Romania, and will enable our solutions to reach over 1 million people in 2020," Yavor Petrov, iCard executive director, said in a statement.
The company said that it has approximately half a million clients in 30 countries.
Apple Pay allows users of Apple devices to make purchases in stores, in apps, and on the web.
In 2018, iCard booked a net profit of 10.4 million levs ($5.9 million/5.3 million euro), down from 12.4 million levs in 2017, according to the company's latest annual financial statement. The company's net fee and commission income fell to 23.5 million levs in 2018 from 25.1 million levs the year before, while net interest income rose to 3.4 million levs from 2.7 million levs.
Bulgaria's Intercapital Holding controls 99.55% interest in iCard.
