August 15 (SeeNews) - The average household expenditure per capita in Bulgaria rose 5.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2019, while the average income per household member increased by 4.9%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Thursday.
A household member spent 1,402 levs ($799/717euro) on average during the second quarter, while their income amounted to 1,547 levs in the same period, NSI said in a statement.
Expenses for food made up 31.4% of the total household expenditure, while expenditure on housing cost a further 15.5%.
Taxes and social insurance contributions constituted 14.2% of the total expenditure, followed by transport and communications services with 11.7%.
Wages and salaries formed 57.8% of the total household income, followed by pensions and self-employment income with 27.6% and 6.2%, respectively.
