November 25 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria had the lowest average electricity prices for households among the European Union member states in the first half of 2020 - 10 euro ($11.9) per 100 kWh, the EU's statistical office said.
The average household prices of natural gas in the first half of 2020 were the lowest in Romania, Latvia and Hungary, at 3.2 euro per 100 kWh in each of the countries, Eurostat said in a statement on Tuesday.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe (SEE), Romania reported the fourth-highest annual rate of increase of electricity prices in the EU in the period under review - of 9.1% to 14.6 euro. Slovenia reported the third-sharpest annual decrease, by 11.4% to 14.5 euro, as the cost of energy was the main factor for the price drop, according to Eurostat.
Croatia reported the third-highest year-on-year increase in natural gas prices in the period under review - by 5.2% to 4.0 euro 100 kWh.
