October 31 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's government said on Thursday that it has approved the 2020 draft budget presented by the finance ministry, targeting a balanced budget with education, healthcare, defence, and income and pension policies being the main priority areas.
The draft budget projects revenue and expenses to total 46.8 billion levs ($26.5 billion/23.9 billion) each in 2020, the government said in a statement following its weekly meeting.
The budget act is now due to be approved by parliament.
Bulgaria is expected to close 2019 with a budget deficit equal to 2% of this year's projected gross domestic product.
At the end of September, Bulgaria's consolidated budget is expected to show a surplus of 1.1% of GDP, according to finance ministry data.
