SOFIA (Bulgaria), March 23 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria’s conservative GERB party will win 31.7% of the vote if early elections were held now, while their main opposition, the Socialists, will come in second with 29.1%, according to the results of a new poll released on Thursday.
Bulgarians go to the polls to elect members of parliament for a four year term on Sunday.
Four other political parties will pass the 4.0% barrier to enter the 240-seat parliament, according to the survey commissioned and conducted by polling agency Alpha Research among 1033 respondents across the country in the period March 20 – March 22.
The nationalist coalition Patriotic Front will receive 8.9%, while the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), which represents mainly ethnic Turks and Muslims, will win 8.4% of the vote, the results of the survey showed.
Volya (Will) party led by businessman Veselin Mareshki, is expected to receive 6.8% of the vote, while the coalition between right-wing Reformist Bloc (RB) and Glas Naroden (Voice of the People) is seen at 4.0%.
Candidates from 21 parties and coalitions are running for parliament.
