February 27 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s centre-right GERB party would win 31.5% of the vote if elections were held now, while their main rival, the Socialists, would get 29.6%, a poll showed on Monday.
Three other political parties would cross the 4.0% threshold to enter Bulgaria’s parliament, according to the survey conducted by polling agency Alpha Research.
The poll was carried out among 1,024 respondents across Bulgaria in the February 16 - February 23 period.
The nationalist coalition Patriotic Front would receive 10.8%, while the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), which represents mainly ethnic Turks and Muslims, would win 6.8% of the vote. According to the results of the survey, Volya (Will) party led by businessman Veselin Mareshki, would win 5.7%.
The right-wing Reformist Bloc (RB), the junior partner of GERB in the minority coalition government that resigned in November, is seen just below the threshold at 3.9%l.
Left-wing coalition ABV - Dvijenie 21 would receive 2.9% support. The anti-corruption coalition Yes, Bulgaria, which brings together the namesake party led by former justice minister Hristo Ivanov, The Greens and DEOS movement, would get 2.6% of the vote.
About 66.7% of those eligible to vote intend to cast a ballot, the poll showed.
In January, Bulgaria's newly-elected president Rumen Radev called an early general election on March 26 and dissolved parliament.
A caretaker government, led by former parliament speaker Ognyan Gerdjikov, officially took office on January 27.
