May 30 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's gross external debt totalled 45.3 billion euro ($48.5 billion) at the end of March, increasing by 9.4% year-on-year, after rising by an annual 8.6% in February, the central bank said on Tuesday.
At the end of March, gross external debt was equivalent to 50.1% of the gross domestic product (GDP) forecast for 2023, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a monthly report.
In March 2022, Bulgaria's foreign debt was equivalent to 48.9% of last year's GDP.
At 9.6 billion euro, the general government's gross foreign debt in March was 27.2% higher than a year earlier and was equivalent to 10.7% of this year's projected GDP.
