May 16 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's Electricity System Operator (ESO) said that it has started the construction of a 400kV overhead transmission line between the Maritsa East and Burgas power substations.
The project will receive 60 million levs ($34.3 million/30.6 million euro) in financing from the EU-funded Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), ESO said in a statement on Wednesday.
The new power line is part of a larger group of projects of common interest for Greece and Bulgaria, ESO said. It is of key importance for the implementation of the North-South priority energy corridor and for the construction of the trans-European energy infrastructure, the electricity operator added.
