March 23 (SeeNews) - Retail centre Delta Planet Mall, located in the Bulgarian costal city of Varna, has invested close to 1 million levs ($555,938/511,291 euro) in a rooftop solar photovoltaic system which was commissioned at the beginning of March, the shopping mall said on Thursday.
The solar array is comprised of 1,029 solar panels and has a total installed capacity of 556 kW, Delta Planet Mall said in a press release.

The installation will cover on average between 7% and 9% of the building's electricity needs per year. The shopping centre has a total built up area of 110,000 sq m, including 40,000 sq m of leasable area which is rented out at 94% at present.
In the first quarter of 2023, the shopping mall registered a 46% annual jump in footfall. Turnover in January surged by 56% compared to 2021, Delta Planet Mall added.
Delta Planet Mall launched operations in early 2019 following a 120 million euro ($132.8 million) investment by Serbia's Delta Real Estate and its Bulgarian partner AP Investment. The mall is also home to an IKEA store, which was opened on its premises in February 2020.
