May 9 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s consumer sentiment index improved by 1.8 percentage points in April as compared to January as confidence increased among both urban and rural population, the office of national statistics said on Wednesday.
Consumer confidence improved by 1.0 pp and 4.1 pp among urban and rural population, respectively, NSI said in a quarterly consumer survey.
The consumers' assessment about the country's economic development over the last 12 months was slightly worse in April as compared to January, while their expectations for the next 12 months improved.
In April, the majority of the consumers continue to assess the economic situation in the country as unfavourable for savings although their relative share decreases in comparison with the previous survey.
Regarding unemployment levels over the next 12 months, consumers expect that there will either be a slight reduction or the indicator will remain unchanged.
