July 11 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian diversified group Chimimport [BUL:6C4] said on Thursday that its consolidated net profit excluding minority interest rose to 40.4 million levs ($23.3 million/20.7 million euro) in the first quarter of 2019 from 32.4 million levs in the like period of 2018.
Chimimport's insurance revenue grew to 160.2 million levs in January-March from 153.3 million levs in the comparable period of last year, while expenses for insurance activities increased to 151.8 million levs from 148.6 million levs, Chimimport said in a bourse filing.
Net interest income amounted to 40.2 million levs in the first three months of the year, up from 36.9 million levs the year before.
Net income from operations with financial instruments soared to 41.0 million levs in the review period from 24.3 million levs in the prior-year period.
Chimimport's other operating and administrative expenses fell to 123.7 million levs from 129.6 million levs.
The group's consolidated assets grew to 9.29 billion levs at the end of 2018 from 9.10 billion levs a year earlier.
Chimimport has over 60 subsidiaries, active in various sectors of the economy, including banking, insurance, air transport, agriculture, petroleum and natural gas exploration, and others.
The company was legally obliged to publish its consolidated first-quarter financial statement by the end of May, but failed to do so.
