September 19 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's current account surplus narrowed to 933.7 million euro ($1.09 billion) in the first seven months of 2018, compared to 2.17 billion euro in the same period of 2017, the central bank said on Wednesday.
The current account surplus in the January-July period was equivalent to 1.8% of the country's projected gross domestic product (GDP) in 2018, compared to a surplus equivalent to 4.3% of estimated 2017 GDP corresponding period of last year, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement.
Bulgaria's trade balance recorded a deficit of 1.87 billion euro in the review period, compared to a deficit of 264.7 million euro in the prior-year period.
Exports fell by 1% year-on-year in the period under review, while imports expanded 9.3%.
