August 17 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's current account was in deficit of 102.1 million euro ($116.2 million) in the first half of 2018, compared to a surplus of 483 million euro in the like period of 2017, the central bank said on Friday.
The current account deficit in the first half was equivalent to 0.2% of the country's projected gross domestic product (GDP) in 2018, compared to a surplus equivalent to 1.0% of estimated 2017 GDP in the first half of last year, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement.
Bulgaria's trade balance recorded a deficit of 723.2 million euro in the first half of 2018, compared to a deficit of 174.4 million euro in the corresponding period of last year.
Exports grew 2.7% year-on-year in the review period, while imports expanded 7.9%.

Bulgaria closed 2017 with a current account surplus of 1.98 billion euro, compared to a surplus of 1.8 billion euro in the previous year.
