October 21 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's labour ministry said on Monday that it has awarded ten telecommunication services contracts worth 1.75 million levs ($999,200/894,800 euro) in total to Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC).
Under the contracts, BTC will be responsible for providing telecommunication services to the labour ministry via a free telephone number for contact with citizens, the ministry said in a notice.
BTC, operating inder the brand name Vivacom, was the only bidder in the public procurement procedures for awarding the contracts.
Four of the contracts were signed on September 18, while the remainder were signed on September 17 and September 20, the labour ministry said.
According to recent reports by local media, BTC is up for sale, with interest expressed by several UK- and US-based private equity firms.
On the Bulgarian mobile telecommunications market the company competes with А1 Bulgaria, part of A1 Telecom Austria, and Telenor Bulgaria, a unit of Czech-controlled PPF Group.
