August 6 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's BDZ Passengers, part of state-owned railway group BDZ Holding, said that it turned to a net loss of 10.0 million levs ($5.7 million/5.1 million euro) in the first half of 2019 from a net profit of 2.7 million levs in the comparable period of 2018.
BDZ Passengers' revenue edged up by an annual 1% to 115 million levs in the January-June period of 2019, the company said in an interim financial statement.
Sales revenue edged up to 27.5 million levs in the period under review from 26.7 million levs the year before.
Operating expenses grew 13% year-on-year to 114.3 million levs in the first six months of the year, mainly due to higher expenses for electricity and personnel expenses.
Amortisation and depreciation costs fell 7% on the year to 25.1 million levs in the review period.
