October 28 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's Velingrad municipality said on Wednesday that it awarded a 2.9 million levs ($1.7 million/1.5 million euro) contract to local company Balkanika Energy, for the decommissioning and recultivation of a landfill for household waste.
The deal which benefits from EU financing under EU's operational programme Environment was signed on October 26, the municipality said in a notice.
Under the terms of the contract, Balkanika Energy will be responsible for the technical and biological recultivation of the landfill.
The awarded candidate submitted the sole offer in the public procurement tender. Technical criteria carried 60% weight in the ranking of the offer.
Sofia-based Balkanika Energy is specialised in implementing investment projects for production and utilization of energy from renewable, conventional and alternative energy sources, and protection of the environment through sustainable systems for waste recovery, according to information published on the company's website.
