July 5 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria expects to harvest 5.6 million tonnes of wheat this year, agriculture minister Dessislava Taneva said on Friday, increasing her forecast of 5.4 million tonnes made last month.
Over 22% of the total area under wheat of 1.13 million hectares has already been harvested, with the average yield standing at 5.37 tonnes per hectare, Taneva said in a statement.

The agriculture ministry expects a good year in grain production, as indicators are high at the beginning of the harvesting season, Taneva said, adding that the expected output from the barley sown area is 500,000 tonnes.
Bulgaria harvested approximately 5.4 million tonnes of wheat last year, according to data published by the ministry in 2018.
