October 12 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's trade deficit increased to some 4.8 billion levs ($2.8 billion/2.4 billion euro) in the first eight months of 2021, compared to a gap of 2.7 billion levs in the same period of last year, the statistical office said on Tuesday, citing preliminary data.
Eight-month exports (FOB) rose 22.4% on the year to 43.9 billion levs, while imports (CIF) added 26.4% to 48.3 billion levs, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
In August alone, Bulgaria's trade gap widened to 715.2 million levs, from 441.5 million levs in the comparable month of 2020, as exports increased 32.8% to 5.5 billion levs, whereas imports rose by 35.6% to over 6.2 billion levs.
