September 20 (SeeNews) - New passenger car registrations in Bulgaria went up 22.9% on the year to 24,406 units in the first eight months of 2023, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) said on Wednesday.
In August alone, the number of newly registered passenger cars in Bulgaria increased by an annual 37.8% to 3,421, ACEA said in a press release.

Between January and August, the highest yearly rise was posted in battery electric vehicle (EV) registrations, by 149.9% to 1,162 units, closely followed by plug-in hybrid vehicles with a 134.5% surge to 204 units.
Petrol was the most popular fuel type for newly registered cars in Bulgaria in the eight months to end-August, with 17,015 units. It was followed by diesel cars with 5,573 units.
In the EU, new passenger car registrations grew 17.9% year-on-year to 7.08 million units in the first eight months of 2023 and added 21% to 787,626 units in August alone.
