SOFIA (Bulgaria), December 13 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria’s gross domestic product (GDP) per capita amounted to 47% of the EU average last year, the lowest level among all 28 EU member states, the EU's statistics office Eurostat said on Tuesday.
Other two EU member states from Southeast Europe – Romania and Croatia, were right in front of Bulgaria with 57% and 58% of the EU average respectively, Eurostat said in a press release.
Montenegro had the highest GDP per capita among the EU candidate countries from Southeast Europe, with 42% of the EU average, while Albania, with 30%, has the lowest.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has not yet been granted full candidate status, is at the bottom of the ranking with 28% of the EU average.
Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia are also ranked last among EU member states in terms of Actual Individual Consumption (AIC) per capita in 2015, with all three countries being 40% or more below the EU average.
