October 3 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's ministry of labour and social politics said on Thursday that it has awarded a 1.9 million levs ($1.1 million/1.0 million euro) telecommunication services contract to local provider Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC), which operates under the Vivacom brand.
The contract will cover the needs of over 3,000 employees of the ministry, it said in a notice.
The deal was signed on September 2.
BTC submitted the sole bid in the public procurement procedure for awarding the contract.
According to recent reports by local media, BTC is currently up for sale, with interest from several UK and US-based private equity firms.
On the Bulgarian mobile telecoms market the company competes with А1 Bulgaria, part of Telecom Austria and Telenor Bulgaria, a unit of Czech-controlled PPF Group.
