October 16 (SeeNews) - Opposition Socialists submitted a motion of no-confidence in the coalition government led by centre-right GERB party on Monday over its policy in the healthcare sector, the parliament said.
The reason for the motion is the government's plan to introduce a mandatory additional health insurance contribution, according to the proposed draft decision published on the webpage of the parliament.
Such a move by the government would be unconstitutional, the draft decision reads.
In addition, it will mean that more funds will be funnelled to a corrupt, non-functioning healthcare system, the Socialists say.
The government coalition of GERB and nationalist alliance United Patriots is likely to survive the vote, as it holds 122 out of 240 seats in parliament. The Bulgarian Socialist Party holds 80 seats.
The no-confidence vote over healthcare policy will be the third against the government which took office in May 2017. The cabinet led by prime minister Boyko Borissov survived a no-confidence vote over corruption in January and one over its national security policy in June.
