December 6 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's parliament said on Friday it has ratified an agreement with the Netherlands for the purchase of two minehunter ships for the needs of the country's navy.
The agreement's ratification was supported by all political groups, the parliament said in a statement following its weekly meeting.
The acquisition of the minehunter ships is part of a larger project aimed at modernising the Bulgarian navy, the parliament added.
Bulgaria's defence ministry signed the agreement on November 11. Earlier in November, Bulgaria's government said that the draft agreement envisages the purchase of the two minehunters for a total of 2 million euro ($2.2 million), VAT excluded.
