June 8 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian lawmakers on Thursday unanimously approved a draft bill allowing an additional extension of the provisions of the revised 2022 budget beyond June 10, giving time to the newly elected government to propose a budget for this year.
The provisions of the 2022 budget will be valid no later than July 31, the MPs decided.
The bill, which will enable the state to continue making financial payments and transfers, including those related to the sovereign debt, was adopted with the votes of 207 MPs present in the 240-seat National Assembly, as seen in a video file published by Nova TV.
The finance ministry will start working on a 2023 draft budget in which a deficit of 3% will be planned, finance minister Assen Vassilev, said earlier this week
No tax hikes will be envisaged in the 2023 budget draft which, hopefully, will be submitted to parliament for approval in a few weeks, Vassilev said upon taking office, according to a press release published on Tuesday.
The caretaker cabinet that had governed Bulgaria until Tuesday, had been operating on extended provisions of the 2022 budget which will expire on June 10.
