June 12 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's government said on Tuesday that an ongoing upgrade of a gas link with Turkey, which will increase its capacity and allow for reverse gas flow to Bulgaria, could be completed by the end of June.
The expansion of the gas pipeline between compressor station Lozenets and pigging facility Nedyalsko will increase its capacity to 15.7 billion cubic metres (bcm) per year from 14 bcm, the government said in a statement following a meeting between prime minister Boyko Borisov with his Turkish counterpart Binali Yildirim in Izmir.
Currently, Bulgaria imports almost all the natural gas it needs from Russia via a pipeline crossing Ukraine, Moldova and Romania.
