September 14 (SeeNews) - The Bulgarian government said on Wednesday that it will allocate an additional 35.9 million levs ($18.34 million/18.36 million euro) to the budget of the health ministry to secure the supply of COVID-19 therapies in the country.
In particular, the amount will be used to finance an agreement for the purchase of South Korean Celltrion’s antibody therapy Regkirona (INN Regdanvimab), the government said in a statement.
Regkirona is used for treating COVID-19 in adults who do not require supplemental oxygen but are at increased risk of their disease becoming severe.
The government will also provide 5.91 million levs to support the medical staff directly involved in the fight against COVID-19. The funds are intended as additional remuneration for activities performed in June.
Bulgaria registered 654 new cases of COVID-19 for the last 24 hours, according to official data.
