January 28 (SeeNews) - The head of Bulgaria's energy regulator said on Wednesday that wholesale gas prices may drop by 15% as of the beginning of April 2016.
A possible decrease would come as a result of cheap crude oil whose price is calculated into gas prices, Ivan Ivanov said in a an interview for the Bulgarian National Television.
In December the regulator approved a 2.32% drop in wholesale gas prices in the first quarter of 2016, to 405.56 levs ($226.7/207.5 euro) per 1,000 cu m.
In 2015 natural gas prices in Bulgaria dropped by 31.16%.
Bulgaria imports almost all the natural gas it needs from Russia through a pipeline crossing the territories of Ukraine, Moldova and Romania.
