January 15 (SeeNews) - The Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) is planning to invest at least 15% of its loan portfolio in energy efficiency and eco-innovation projects, its CEO said on Wednesday.
In the next three years the bank will focus on green investments, supporting projects for the construction of renewable energy sources, decarbonisation, eco-innovation, sustainable farming, and green municipal infrastructure, Stoyan Mavrodiev, CEO of the BDB, said as quoted in a statement by the BDB.
To share the risk from the uncertain return on investment, the bank is planning to offer guarantees, risk-sharing instruments and long-term financing to companies engaged in such activities.
The bank will thus support companies in their efforts to adapt to the forthcoming European legal norms in the field of environmental protection, Mavrodiev noted.
