December 27 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's business sentiment index fell in December for a second consecutive month, however, the business mood in the country remains optimistic, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) said.
The general business climate indicator fell by 1.1 points after declining by one point in November, the NSI said in a statement.
The industry sub-index for December remained flat from the previous month as managers viewed the current business conditions for their enterprises as unchanged. They were positive about the level of order in-takes from the local market and abroad but were more moderate regarding current and future production activity.
The construction sub-index fell by 4.1% in December from a month ago as managers in this sector were less optimistic in their estimates and expectations. Nevertheless, the business climate in this sector remains favourable, the NSI said.
Retailers also grew more cautious regarding the business conditions over the next six months. At the same time executives said sales in the previous three months had increased and most of the managers expected them to grow further. The sub-index in this sector slid 0.8 points.
The business climate in the services sector also deteriorated in December, falling by 1.3 points from the previous month. Managers in this sector also were more moderate about the current business situation of their enterprises and future demand for their services.
