July 20 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian brewing businesses made capital investments of 25 million levs ($13 million/12.8 million euro) in the sector in the first half of 2022, the Union of Brewers in Bulgaria (UBB) said on Wednesday.
The investments were channelled into production and logistics improvements, the Union said in a press release.
Revenue from sales has added 4% on the year, but is still not restored to pre-pandemic levels, UBB added.
A total of 10 new brands and styles of beer entered the market over the review period.
"Over the past three years, total social investments in the sector exceeded 7 million levs. They have been mostly aimed at human capital development programmes, contributions to local communities, prevention campaigns and green initiatives," UBB CEO Ivana Radomirova said.
The UBB's members include major Bulgarian brewing companies such as Bolyarka - VT, Britos, Zagorka, Kamenitza, Carlsberg Bulgaria, Lomsko Pivo and Dorovski Invest, which is behind the Glarus craft beer range.
