March 31 (SeeNews) - The combined net profit of the banks operating in Bulgaria decreased to 154.9 million levs ($86.7 million/79.2 million euro) in the January-February period of 2020, from 203.6 million in the same period of last year, the country's central bank said on Tuesday.
The banking sector's net operating revenue fell to 564.8 million levs in the first two months of the year from 575.6 million levs in the prior-year period, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said earlier this week in a regular report on the performance of the country's banks.
Gross interest income of Bulgarian banks rose to 505.2 million levs in the review period from 497.7 million levs in the like period of 2019.
Gross fee and commission income increased to 208.1 million levs in the January-February period from 203.3 million levs a year earlier.
The banks' total assets increased to 114.8 billion levs at the end of February, up from 107.7 billion levs a year earlier.
