June 1 (SeeNews) - The combined net profit of the banks operating in Bulgaria decreased to 355.7 million levs ($202.4 million/181.9 million euro) in the January-April period of 2020, from 454.1 million in the same period of last year, the country's central bank said.
The banking sector's net operating income edged down to 1.23 billion levs in the first four months of the year from 1.24 million levs in the prior-year period, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said on Friday in a regular report on the performance of the country's banks.
Gross interest income of Bulgarian banks remained unchanged year-on-year at 1 billion levs. Gross fee and commission income fell to 403.5 million levs in the first four months of 2020 from 425.1 million levs a year earlier.
The banks' total assets increased to 115.8 billion levs at the end of April, up from 108.5 billion levs a year earlier.
