August 2 (SeeNews) - The gross non-performing loans (NPLs) of banks in Bulgaria decreased to 4.71 billion levs ($2.5 billion/2.4 billion euro) in the three months to end-June, from 4.83 billion levs at the end of March, the central bank said.
This represented a ratio of 5.24% of the total amount of gross loans and advances against 5.50% at the end of March, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a report on the banking sector's performance published on Friday.
Total gross loans and advances amounted to 89.8 billion levs at the end of June, having increased by 2 billion levs since the end of March.
Net NPLs dropped to 2.44 billion levs at the end of the first half of 2022, from 2.46 billion levs at the end of March.
The gross loan portfolio of the Bulgarian banking system amounted to 81 billion levs at the end of June, having expanded by a quarterly 2.9%.
