December 1 (SeeNews) - The combined net profit of the banks operating in Bulgaria increased to 1.22 billion levs ($706.6 million/623.8 million euro) in the first ten months of 2021, from 796.4 million levs in the same period of last year, the central bank said.
The banking sector's net operating income grew to 3.6 billion levs in the ten months through October from 3.4 billion levs in the comparable period of 2020, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a monthly report on the performance of the banking system on Tuesday.
The gross interest income of Bulgarian banks was little changed on an annual comparison basis in the review period, totalling 2.5 billion levs . Gross fee and commission income went up to 1.2 billion levs in the ten months through October from 1 billion levs a year earlier.
The banks' total assets amounted to 133.6 billion levs at the end of October, up from 119.2 billion levs a year earlier.
