November 26 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria and Turkey are planning on doubling the railway line connecting the city of Plovdiv to Istanbul, Bulgarian state-owned National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) said.
The project parameters, designed speeds on both sides of the border as well as the options for improvement of the service and increasing of the passenger and freight traffic were discussed at a meeting held on November 24, NRIC said in a statement on Wednesday.
The project for doubling the Bulgarian part of the railway line is currently at the design stage.
The two railway infrastructure operators will soon nominate representatives responsible for the coordination of the project on both sides of the border.
