November 23 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's health minister Kostadin Angelov said on Monday that the government is planning to extend the state of epidemic emergency introduced over the spread of COVID-19 pandemic until the end of March and tighten restrictions.
The government plans to close down bars and restaurants, as well as non-food shops, excluding pharmacies and banks, Angelov said during a press conference aired live by public broadcaster BNT.
The measures also envisage the suspension of attendance at universities, schools, kindergartens and nurseries.
All sport events, congresses, seminars, etc. will also be banned.
The health minister plans to introduce the measures as of Friday, following consultation with the other government members.
By Monday, Bulgaria had registered a total of 121,820 coronavirus cases, with 36,524 recoveries and 2,880 associated deaths. A total of 6,350 coronavirus patients were still hospitalised on Monday.
