March 24 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria will participate in a tender for a concession of Alexandroupolis port in Greece as part of a consortium in which it will hold 10-15%, the government said.
"Through the potential acquisition of concession rights by 2062, Bulgaria will have access to a port in the Aegean Sea. In this way, our country will become a strategic partner in trade relations in the region, which will be extremely beneficial for the Bulgarian business," the government said in a Facebook post earlier this week.
The tender for the concession of a controlling stake in the state-owned Alexandroupoli Port Authority, the operator of the port, is entering its final stretch, with binding offers to be submitted in the last ten days of April, Greek newspaper Kathimerini reported earlier. The tender envisages the sale of at least 67% of shares in the port operator.
