April 13 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria will back its agriculture sector with state aid and direct payments amounting to about 902 million levs ($499.5 million/461.2 million euro) in 2022, the agriculture ministry said.
The activity in the sector is hampered not only because of the impact of the coronavirus crisis, but also due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, the agriculture ministry said in a press release on Tuesday.

In the livestock sector, support in the amount of 4.6 million levs is envisaged for investment aid, 28 million levs for risk and crisis management, and 7.5 million levs for maintaining a high level of breeding activity.
In order to improve the quality of food and raw materials of animal origin, pig breeding and poultry breeding businesses will be supported with 44 million levs and 35 million levs, respectively.
In 2022, 79 million levs of emergency aid is being provided for liquidity support of livestock farmers in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry added.
In the crops sector, the investment aid will amount to 10 million levs, which can be invested in tangible assets for crop production. Nearly 16.6 million levs will be provided for risk and crisis management. Emergency support of 64.5 million levs is envisaged to ensure the liquidity of crop farmers hit by the economic impact of the pandemic.
