February 8 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria will resume its electricity exports as of February 9, the energy ministry announced on Wednesday.
The reserves necessary for the normal operation of the electricity system of Bulgaria have been restored and will meet the upcoming short-term increase in electricity consumption, the ministry said in a statement citing a letter from the Electricity System Operator.
"The access of exporters to the electricity grid in Bulgaria now has been restored," the ministry added.
On January 13, Bulgaria cut its electricity exports as domestic consumption increased sharply due to harsh winter weather conditions as a cold spell gripped most of Southeastern Europe in January, creating imbalance between electricity production and consumption at the regional level.
