July 11 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria will officially open on July 12 the Nova Zagora-Yambol stretch of the key Trakia motorway linking the country's capital Sofia with the Black Sea port of Burgas, the government said on Wednesday.
The construction of the 35.7-kilometre section is part of a motoraway extension project co-financed by the EU, the government said in a statement.
The total cost of the new stretch amounts to 134 million levs ($84 million/68.5 million euro).
Trakia highway, part of pan-European transport Corridor VIII, is expected to be completed by the autumn. Its total length is 360 kilometres (km), of which 245 km are operational. The total amount of investments stands at 362.5 million euro ($400.4 million), out of which 286.2 million euro are coming from the European Cohesion Fund, which caters specially for infrastructural and environmental projects.
